What is maxiday?

 Maxiday is the international day for the promotion and dissemination of the sport category called "maxi". The maxi category begins with the age of 35 for men and 30 for women, and it is divided into categories every 5 years. The prefix "maxi" is widely recognized in the world (maxibasket, maxisports, maxigames, etc)
FIMBA Maxibasketball coordinates the celebration of the Maxiday propelling the fulfillment of maxi games in all the courts of the world the same day.
The maxisport is a movement that promotes the sports continuity of the human being, supporting a better quality in life for the second and third age, in a social environment of team-spirit and a healthy life, at the same time that it raises like an example for the rest of the society.
FIMBA Maxibasketball is actively propelling the promotion of the Maxiday. This category is the space to keep competing in high performance according to each age, after the high competence. Thousands of players around the world show the advantages of sports, like the quality in the maturity stage actively practicing basketball .They stand like examples of youth and open the way to avoid the damages caused among other reasons by cigarettes or drugs.
FIMBA Maxibasketball invites through you to all the maxi players of the world to participate of this world - wide feast.
The celebration consists in the simultaneous realization of maxibasketball games during a whole day in all the courts around the world.
In this way we promote the category and arouse the international attention in an event during one day around the world.
The fixed day for the celebration is September 27th, 2008. The games can take place during that day at any time and as many games as you like.

MAXI DAY 27.09.2008.
Na taj dan u cijelom svijetu održavaju se veteranski košarkaški turniri ili utakmice. Pokretač ove akcije je svjetska veteranska košarkaška organizacija FIMBA. Prvi puta su košarkaški veterani svoj dan u "MAXIBASKETU" obilježili prošle godine u cijelom svijetu od Argentine do Novog Zelanda na jugu, do Finske, Amerike i Rusije na sjeveru, uz sve veću masovnost košarkaškog veteranskog 'pokreta'.
Znak "MAXI DAY" je narančasta vrpca koju si igrači zavežu na prednjoj strani dresa oko lijeve naramenice ili narančasta narukvica na lijevoj ruci.
U sklopu obilježavanja tog dana u Hrvatskoj su po prvi puta obilježile momčadi veterana VKK ZAGREBA i SAMOBORA u subotu 27. rujna 2008. u novoj šporskoj dvorani u Samoboru. Nakon neizvjesne i napete utakmice na kraju je nešto iskusnija momčad VKK Zagreba izborila pobjedu u posljednjoj četvrtini utakmice.

Zanimljivo je bilo i drugo poluvrijeme posije utakmice gdje su se zajednički planirale slijedeće akcije veterana kao što su natjecanje u novosnovanoj ligi KOALA, veteranskom turniru OLD STARS ZAGREB 2009. te 10. svjetskom prvenstvu veterana koje će se održati od 26.06. do 5.07.2009. u PRAGU. Tu se pokazuje da su bitne i druge stvari, poput užitka u natjecateljskom sportu, druženju, putovanjima.
